Talking Points....

June 23, 2026

This week's group discussion will focus on our rewarding 30 Day Challenge to Rekindle Passionate Faith and the revealing series "Hearing God's Voice."

I. 30 Day Challenge to Rekindle Passionate Faith.

A. There are things we can do when we feel "stuck" in our faith.

1. Remind yourself that your feelings are not in charge.

2. Your faith is in charge of your feelings.

3. If you feel stuck, maybe you stopped taking simple steps.

4. When you find yourself being controlled by your feelings, what things have you found helpful to remind yourself that your faith is in charge of your feeling?

B. For 30 days we should challenge ourselves to pray honestly.

1. We need to get super honest with God.

2. Don't be afraid to let God know if you feel "stuck" in your faith.

3. Let Him know if you have lost your passion for church, worship, and prayer you once had.

4. How has being honest with God helped you?

C. For 30 days we should challenge ourselves to spend intentional time in His Word.

1. We need to spend time in the Word even when it feels dry.

2. The Cross Hill Church app has a reading plan so that you can spend time in His Word along with the rest of the church.

3. What things have you found to be helpful for you to continue reading His Word, even when it feels dry?

D. For 30 days we should challenge ourselves to encourage others in their faith.

1. You can give them an encouraging note with a Bible verse.

2. You can call someone to let them know that God put them on our heart and that you are praying for them.

3. You can tell someone how much you appreciate their Christian example.

4. Tell the person to your left how much you appreciate their Christian example in a certain area.

II. Part 3.

A. God speaks to us through supernatural manifestation.

1. Examples of this are Moses' burning bush, Gideon's fleece, Balaam's donkey, and Hezekiah's sun dial.

2. Would you rather God spoke to you in a whisper or a supernatural manifestation, and why?

B. God speaks to us through the Bible.

1. This is the most common way.

2. Romans 10:17 - So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

3. What things keep you from getting a word from God while reading His Word?

C. God speaks to us through a still, small voice.

1. God frequently speaks to us with a whisper.

2. Since God frequently speaks to us in a still, small voice to get our attention, how should we speak to others to get their attention so that we can tell them about Jesus?

III. Part 4.

A. Distracting voices.

1. Today's world bombards us with so many voices competing for our attention.

2. Distracting voices can include news casts and articles, social media, academia, and peer pressure.

3. These voices want to pull us away from the one voice that we need to hear.

4. When you find yourself distracted by other voices, what things have helped you to silence those voices, so that you are able to hear His voice?

B. When we aren't hearing from God, sometimes we need to go back to the where we heard from God.

1. Samuel returned to bed where he had heard from God.

2. Do you have a place where God speaks to you the most?

C. God speaks to us in multiple ways.

1. Sometimes His voice can be unmistakably clear, a gentle nudge in the Spirit,  a settling peace, a lack of peace, through reading His word, prayer, or cries of desperation.

2. Sometimes He just speaks.

3. In what way or ways does He speak to you the most?

D. His expectation.

1. When God speaks to us, He expects us to trust and do what He says.

2. Share a time when God spoke to you, and you trusted and obeyed Him right away.

E. Hearing His voice is only the beginning.

1. We need to spend time in His Word.

2. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 - All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

3. We are ready for whatever comes our way at any time.

4. How has spending time in His Word helped to prepare you for something?

F. We need to train our ears to hear Him.

1. God still speaks and speaks in multiple ways.

2. God is not mute, distant, nor is He uninvolved in our lives.

3. Not everyone has the same experiences, or hears from Him the same way every time.

4. What things have been helpful for you to train your ears to hear Him?

G. We need to train ourselves to recognize His voice and respond obediently.

1. Sometimes, God appears silent because He has already spoken.

2. When He shows or tells us something, we need to do it His way, not ours.

3. Have you ever tried to argue with God about how to do something He told you?  How did that go?

H. The written Word teaches us what His voice sounds like.

1. The Bible teaches us the heart of God.

2. As we learn His Word, we learn His character, perspective, and expectations.

3. What verses stand out to you that are revealing of His heart?

I. We need to be doers of His Word.

1. James 1:22 - But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

2. Why do you think that it is important to not just hear the Word, but also to do what it says?

J. We need mature hearing.

1. Mature hearing knows what God said, and by His grace, will obey even if it costs.

2. He is with us in the trial.

3. Share a time when you did what God said, even though it cost you something, and the blessings God brought about because of your obedience.

K. Obedience.

1. The breakthrough doesn't happen when God speaks.

2. The breakthrough happens when we obey.

3. What was the last thing God told you?  Did you obey?

L. Reflection time.

1. What has stood out to you the most with this series "Hearing God's Voice"
