Don't Be Scrooged
The classic Christmas tale of Ebenezer Scrooge depicted the life of a miserable man who refused to break from his past. Christmas time, more than any other season of the year can often be a painful reminder of what is no longer here. Loss, disappointment, betrayal and lack are just a few of the things people are forced to navigate through particularly during the holidays. Thankfully, God has an answer for the heavy-hearted.
700 years before Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the prophet Isaiah declared, "The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine." A few verses later he said, "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
